Our consultants bring hands-on experience from inside nationally recognized testing laboratories and standards development work. We understand what the standards say and also how evaluators, utilities, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) actually apply them. We engage early, find compliance gaps before they become test failures or permit rejections, and stay with clients through approval.
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
We support BESS manufacturers, integrators, and developers from cell selection through site commissioning. Our work includes certification strategy and gap assessments against UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1973, and UL 2580. We also review large-scale fire test plans and reports and check installations for compliance with NFPA 855, the International Fire Code, and NEC Article 706. We help clients prepare hazard mitigation analyses, explosion control documentation, and the technical packages that AHJs and fire officials need for approval.
Grid and Utility Interconnection
Connecting inverter-based resources to the grid means meeting both product standards and each utility’s own requirements. We help clients work through IEEE 1547 and 1547.1, UL 1741 (including Supplement SB grid-support functions), and IEEE 2800 for transmission-connected projects. Our services include interconnection application support, review of protection and grid-support settings, test plan development, and coordination with utilities to resolve technical questions before they stall a project.
Classified Hazardous Locations
Equipment used where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts are present must be designed and certified for those conditions. We advise on area classification and protection methods, including explosion-proof, intrinsic safety, purged and pressurized enclosures, and increased safety. Our work covers the NEC Class/Division and Zone systems as well as IECEx and ATEX for international markets. We support product design reviews, certification path planning, and evaluation of equipment assemblies and control panels intended for hazardous locations.
Product Certification and Market Access
In every practice area, we help clients plan efficient certification programs with NRTLs and certification bodies, using CB Scheme, IECEx, and ATEX pathways to reach North American and global markets through one coordinated strategy.
